Through our Center for External Innovation and Partnership Office, Takeda partners with academic institutions, small biotech, and large pharmaceutical companies. We individualize each collaboration to leverage what we and our partners do best to improve patient health. Fostering Collaboration

Shonan Health Innovation Park (Shonan iPark) is Japan's first pharma-led openly innovative ecosystem built on pharmaceutical know-how where industry, government, and academia come together to promote entrepreneurship and collaboration in Japan and Globally. The Health Innovation Park is designed to:

  • Provide access to pharmaceutical expertise, state- of- the- art capabilities, and research settings to accelerate true innovation
  • Nurture an entrepreneurial culture that encourages creative problem-solving and pushes boundaries
  • Catalyze transformative public-private partnerships
  • Attract global talent and investment 


Recognizing Innovation

The Innovators in Science Award, proudly sponsored by Takeda and administered by the New York Academy of Sciences, was established in November 2016. It recognizes a promising Early Career Scientist and an outstanding Senior Scientist’s contributions to science in the therapeutic areas of Neuroscience, Gastroenterology, Regenerative Medicine, and Oncology. The award is intended to support their commitment to innovative research.

Two prizes of US$200,000 are awarded each year, in a specific therapeutic area: one to an Early Career Scientist and the other to a well-established Senior Scientist from around the world who have distinguished themselves for their creative thinking and impact of research.
